Clinical work
He has worked in all areas of cardiovascular medicine. He has organized the Hemodynamic Laboratory of the 1st Cardiology Department, which is now considered one of the most prominent Hemodynamic Labs in Europe. He has performed tens of thousands diagnostic and therapeutic percutaneous interventional procedures.
Social Contribution
He has been publishing articles in the press, informing the public about cardiovascular health, for several years. He maintains a weekly column in “Eleftherotypia” newspaper entitled “Cardian Kathara” (Clean Heart), and a weekly column in newspaper " To Proto Thema". He has participated in numerous television reports and newscasts keeping the public informed about critical health issues.
Honors and Awards
He has received awards for his research in Cardiology by the Hellenic Society of Cardiology, the University of Crete and the Hellenic Heart Foundation. He has also received an Award for his Social Medical work by the National Association of Football Coaches as part of the event "Apollonia 2011". He has also been declared as an honorary citizen of Papagos Municipality.
He has won 2 awards for his research on Interventional Cardiology from the Thoraxcenter, Erasmus University, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
In 2007, the prestigious international journal "Clinical Cardiology" devoted a special honorary two-page article entitled "Profiles in Cardiology" analyzing his hitherto work.
In 2008 he was awarded the title of "Archon" from the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
In 2005 he was awarded the title of "Elite Reviewer" by the scientific journal “Journal of the American College of Cardiology” (JACC) in recognition of his whole contribution to the Journal’s publication.
In 2011, the American College of Cardiology awarded him the Simon Dack’s Award, which is given to the scientist with the most important contribution to the scientific journals of the American College of Cardiology (Journal of the American College of Cardiology, JACC-Cardiovascular Interventions and JACC-Cardiovascular Imaging).
